Welcome To My Life: Update

Hello and Welcome To My Life:

I have not updated in a couple days so I decided I should probably get on that. The past couple of days been pretty busy.

Thursday, I had a second interview at a company. This time I met with the president. I felt like the interview went pretty well, the first one went much better. That is the difference between people that work directly with people and someone who works with numbers. CEO's/Presidents are always money and numbers people (usually). I had to work at the grocery store later that day but went home sick.

Friday, I worked most of the day and spent the evening hanging out at my friend's apartment. Saturday was a pretty busy day. I woke up early and cleaned my room like a mad woman. I also did laundry and a few other chores before going into work for the rest of the day.

I also worked all day on Sunday as well so did not do much else.

Monday was my day off. I slept in (due to SPRING AHEAD!) until 8:00 a.m. I went to the library with my dad and ended up at Starbucks while waiting for him for a little bit. After lunch, I went for a 4 mile walk and a workout after. I then completed my taxes. Its depressing when the more money you make the less money you get back from the government. Boo that.

Anyways, I just baked some banana honey muffins (no sugar!) and now I am going to head to bed.

Welcome To My Life: March 6, 2013

Hello and Welcome To My Life:

I woke up bright and early at 5:00 a.m. this morning. Rude awakening. I had to babysit at 7:20 a.m. and they live about 25-30 minutes away so I had to get an early start. Starbucks (coffee in general) was my savior today. I drank three cups of coffee.

I did not have enough daylight and time to take a walk and I was too lazy after babysitting to do any at-home exercises, so I failed in that area today. No major junk food though.

I spent most my day watching the two (of the three) kids and their dog.

Thankfully, while watching them I am able to work on schoolwork. I was able to finish up my classmate assignment reading for this past unit and was able to look and apply for jobs (which was supposed to be done on Monday, but I have not had time until now). I was also able to respond to the person in marketing at my school and hopefully I will be featured in the local newspaper.

While babysitting, I received a call from the company that I interview at on Monday, and they wanted me to come in for a second interview with the president of the company. I will have that interview tomorrow morning. I am truly hoping for this job, I need something stable in my life and this company seems pretty awesome.

I also received a call from some local company asking me to interview for sales representative and a call-center job. Yeah, I had to decline--I do not think those positions would be a good fit for me.

After babysitting (and eating dinner), I went grocery shopping. I also got my work schedule for next week. I am very disappointed in the hours I got--thank goodness I live with my parents otherwise I could not survive off of this! I need full-time hours..

Anyways, I think I am going to watch No Strings Attached and call it a night. I need to wake up early and workout before my interview!

Welcome To My Life: March 5, 2013

Hello and Welcome To My Life:

Today was fairly hectic. I started my morning off with a 4.6 mile walk--it took me a little over an hour to do (ice slows me down!). I hit my 10,000 step goal a little after 9:00 a.m. so that was awesome!

I took my brothers girlfriend to some outlets about 30 minutes away from where I live. We mostly just browsed and wished we had more money to spend. All I bought was cold weather running gear; I got some running leggings, a shirt, and running gloves (they even have a little pocket for a key--how cool is that?!).

After shopping, we met my brother (Andy) at Applebee's (same city) for lunch and then I followed them (his girlfriend went with him, go figure) to his college in that city. My brother's girlfriend had agreed to record a song with my other brother (he is a recording technology music major) at the school, so it just worked out that I went with (my brothers carpooled). My other brother (Jon) had to stay late after the recording was done so they did not want to be stuck there, so I volunteered to be bored (I ended up leaving the car I drove for Jon). Andy walked me halfway across campus and dumped me in some building. I did not have a clue where I was, or what floor I was on! I realized I had no internet access and I forgot my Kindle (whoops). I mentioned being lost on Facebook, and one of my former classmates (he transferred to this college) told me to call him if I needed help. Needless to say, he ended up coming and keeping me company (I had to figure out where I was first though). Thank goodness for technology (and his canceled class)!

Eventually we all went home (minus one brother), and on the way home Andy bought us Starbucks. The rest of my evening was fairly boring, I am still trying to finish The Bishop's Wife.. is this day three now? Well, I have been rescheduled to babysit tomorrow morning, bright and early, so I had better get to bed.

I had a totally cute outfit on today.. and FORGOT to take a picture. My bad.

Welcome To My Life: March 4, 2013

Hello and Welcome To My Life:

Today was such a great day! I had an interview this morning for a receptionist position in a company that is about a 25 minute drive from where I live. I thought it went very well and I learned a lot more about the company. It is a growing company and it seems like it would be a great place to work. I can tell your right now that I honestly hope I get this job. The whole interview process was very comfortable and it was just like having conversation with people. My last interview was not at all like that.

After my interview, I met up with my friend who lives in a neighboring city to where I was and we went to a cool cafe/deli downtown in that city. I actually know somebody (or used to know the person) who works there so that was one of reasons why I wanted to go there (her pictures of latte art sucked me in). I had a delicious Bean Wrap--named after the person I knew. My honey latte was delicious as well, but it was not made by the person I knew--she wanted to but somebody had already made it. It was nice catching up with her a bit too. Also, it was good catching up with my friend that I met up with! I have not seen her in a couple months and a lot has changed in her life so it was great to catch up.

Once I got home, I changed out of my lovely interview outfit and went to the library to pick up/return a few items. After that errand (plus a trip to the bank for my brother), I took a walk. It was only a 2 mile walk because I needed to get ready for the banquet, but I stopped and talked to one of my neighbors who visits me at the grocery store all the time. Sweet old guys are so nice! Ha.

The award banquet was very nice, and inspiring! It is amazing that I was even nominated! My mother had to also point out that I was the youngest person nominated. However, being that my initials are AA, I tend to be first for everything, tonight was the same: I had to give my (not prepared) speech first. They spelled my last name wrong in the pamphlet as well (I am used to that by now!).

The food was made by culinary students at my school and it was amazing. Here is a picture of the yummy dessert:

Here is the beautiful award I was given and some pretty flowers:

Now, it is time to go to sleep! I am taking my brother's girlfriend to an outlet mall tomorrow so I need my "beauty" rest.

Welcome To My Life: March 3, 2013

Hello and Welcome To My Life:

This morning, I actually went to church. I am in a weird phase and I am not sure what to do about my church life. I am considering trying out different churches, but it is hard to go somewhere new with people you do not know. It was an okay service, according to my mother, the message had some good points.

Okay, if you do not want to hear about a pet peeve of mine, skip this paragraph ;)

I work in a place that is very public, and honestly, I dislike it very much when couples are extremely affectionate right in front of you. I do not want you making out while I check out your groceries. Is that too much to ask? There is a time and a place for that, not in a check-out line. Anyways, I think it is even worse if a couple is being overly affectionate in a church. Church is a place to go and focus on God, not your significant other. No body else wants to be distracted by that either, okay?

End of rant.

Tomorrow, it will have been a week since I started my "diet". It really is not a strict diet, but I am trying to eat as healthy as I can, and not so much; it is all about portions! I used to think that eating twice a day was the key to losing weight and being fit, but I have been taking the approach of having smaller meals/snacks throughout the day and I feel so much better. I have so much more energy now than I did before! I do not care that my friends make fun of me for "counting calories" and being super healthy, because I feel great! I have started to exercise more as well. I take an hour long walk whenever if I have time in the day(light) to do it. Eventually, I want to start running, but my ankle is a bit sprained yet, so walking it is! I also found some exercises on Pinterest that I have been doing:

Do It Daily
Tone Your Arms in 7 Days

My exercise routine ends up being around two hours.

My brother's girlfriend (she is from Georgia) is spending her spring break here so she can be with my brother and she arrived in the wee hours of the morning. Hopefully I will get an opportunity to spend some time with her this week. I have not really had the chance to get to know her--she wants to be with my brother all the time! Ha ha.

Other than that, my day has been pretty chill. I have an interview at a company tomorrow so I spent time preparing for that. I am super excited and hope I get this job.

I think I will watch The Bishop's Wife and then call it a night.

Welcome To My Life: March 2, 2013

Hello and Welcome To My Life:

Nothing too exciting happened today. I had agreed to take part of somebody's shift at work, and late last night she asked if I would take the whole 7 1/2 hour shift. I responded with "I did not want to" last night, but this morning I decided I would stay for the whole thing. She had a solo and an ensemble and did not want to have the extra stress of rushing to work after. I did not want to take the whole thing because it was a bagging shift, and let's be honest, who likes bagging? I actually do enjoy bagging, 4 hours or less, nothing more. Because we have 17 days to raise money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association, they asked me to cashier instead because I do ask guests to donate. I beat my shift goal of $60 and actually raised $70, which may not seem like a lot, but trust me, it is not easy to ask people to donate. With the economy how it is, most people are holding on more tightly to their money.

After work, I picked up a few sale items and went home. Most of my evening has been spent sitting around and doing my laundry.

Tonight, I decided to check my school e-mail (I usually only check it on Mondays), and saw an e-mail from somebody that works in advertising at my school. Apparently they would like to feature me in a Student Spotlight in our local newspaper. Not sure what to make of that, but I will probably fill out the questionnaire and agree to let them post it.

I am just going to finish my laundry and put it away and then watch Christmas in Connecticut. I will probably fall asleep about 30 minutes into the movie, as always.

Welcome To My Life: March 1, 2013

Hello and Welcome To My Life:

Today was such a good day! I woke up early and went for a run, but that turned into a walk because my ankle is still sprained (probably is not a good idea to run on a sprained ankle, eh?). After my run, I did some other workouts, mainly ab workouts.

Most of the afternoon, I was reading The Outliers: Stories of Success--such an interesting book! I was not supposed to have a car today because my brother's car has been in the shop (for 3 weeks!), but he came home with the car I drive because his was all fixed. Since, I had a car again I decided I was going to go to the mall to get a dress for an awards dinner on Monday night. Before going shopping, I went walking around my neighborhood for an hour.

As I was getting ready for my walk, I got a phone call from a company that I had applied at on February 13th. I now have an interview on Monday!

Today was full of fitbit accomplishments. I got the 10,000 steps badge and the 15,000 steps badge! I also met my daily goal of going 5 miles (I went over 7 miles!), and I had an active score over 100%! This fitbit is really motivating me to being more active and overall healthy. I am eating so much more healthy now (besides a minor slip up).

I had a million different things I needed at the mall, but the most important things was a dress for Monday night. I tried on six different dresses (two are not pictured--they looked horrible!). Dress shopping always makes me feel so insecure about my figure :/:

Guess what one I chose? I was planning on spending $80 on a dress, but I got this one for $40 (sale rack plus a student discount) at The Limited. I will post a picture of my outfit on Monday so you will find out what one I chose. I also went to Target and WalMart. I needed some workout stuff from Target and necessities at WalMart.

I had wanted to go to a local coffee shop tonight (live music too), but one of my friends did not want to go so I ended up going to her house. We ate cupcakes, guacamole (I did not! EWW), and played Just Dance 2 (I had never played that before. Btw, I cannot dance). One of my friends was craving a Shamrock Shake from McDonald's so we made a trip there. That was my slip up, I got some fries too--whoops! But, my shake did not have whip cream, so that makes it better, right? I ended up going home soon after we got the shakes. I have to work in the morning so it is time for me to go off to sleep.

Welcome To My Life: February 28, 2013

Hello and Welcome To My Life:

Not an exciting day by far but it was okay. I worked an 8-hour shift, but before work I noticed that my former employer (internship) has a temporary part-time position in their plant human resources. I plan on applying for it tomorrow. I have to start somewhere, and since they know me already, hopefully it will help.

Work was okay. My lovely friend *cough cough* jabbed me in the ribs and I screamed bloody murder. The whole entire store heard me; how embarrassing. Other than that, it was not too exciting. Oh, almost forget the best part of my day! About 5 minutes before I needed to leave for work, I was about to put on my shoes and realized that my work pants finally split in the crotch. Awkward. Thankfully I realized that before I left for work! I now need to make a trip to the mall a.s.a.p., not that I was not already planning a trip..

I need to buy a dress for an awards dinner on Monday too.

So, I have been making fun of the show Duck Dynasty since I knew it existed. Yesterday was the season premiere. I watched it tonight and I can officially say that I actually enjoyed it. I despise camo and the beards, but maybe I will get over that. Hmmm.. should I buy something camo? Maybe I will officially fall off the deep end.

Now, I think I am going to read a book and go to sleep.. hopefully I will wake up early and work out--probably not, my sprained ankle hates me. I swear, every time I attempt to start working out something happens to my right ankle. I have an Achilles tendon that gives me problems, and now my ankle is currently sprained (due to a game of extreme spoons).

Welcome To My Life: February 26, 2013

Hello and Welcome To My Life:

Today started out great. Having started my diet yesterday, I woke up feeling so much more energized! I think it has to do mostly with the fact that I have been drinking so much more water now. My diet is based off of counting calories (just make smarter food choices and eating less of it).

Before going to work at 11:00 a.m., I was reading The Outliers: The Story of Success by Malcolm Gladwell. It is such an interesting book!

I worked until 5:30 p.m. and went grocery store shopping after. Any suggestions on low-calorie/healthy snack options? I picked up some Clif Kids energy bars and I really like them! I am thinking about doing a post on my website about my favorite healthy snacks!

Since Friday I have been procrastinating in baking carrot cake cupcakes. I thought today would be another day of procrastination because when I get home from work I was extremely tired. Once I ate dinner and a Clif Kid Z Bar I got a burst of energy and baked them anyways. After cleaning up the kitchen, I am now enjoying a small glass of Fre wine before going to bed. I have to wake up at 5:00 a.m. to babysit all day.

Welcome To My Life: Update

Hello and Welcome To My Life:

I have not updated this blog in a about a week now. My life has been pretty dull lately and my state of mind is not well.

I am in such a frustrating time in my life and it is so hard to stay positive. My job search is very frustrating and disheartening. My current job, even though I love the employer, makes me unhappy. I love the place and environment where I work, the job itself I enjoy, but when there is downtime I go insane. I am somebody who needs to be constantly doing something, whether is physically or mentally. I have decided to transfer to a different department and everyone is telling me not to. Apparently it is not a good working environment, but either way, I will probably be miserable.. but I am going to think positively about this transfer--at least I will eventually get a pay raise!

Recently, I went down a path a regret. I started talking to my ex again. I will admit that I still have major feelings for him, but the road that we started going down again, well, I am not quite sure it was the same one he had in mind. I put an end to it and now I am just frustrated with myself for even going there.

I would like to start focusing more on my health, and get fit. Through my health insuruer I was able to receive a fitbit zip Wireless Activity Tracker.

It tracks my steps, calories burned, miles I have gone, and through the app and online dashboard I am able to journal my food, water, exercise, and current weight. I can make everyday goals for steps, calories burned, etc.

My friends and I would like to join a gym, but that is currently on hold. I applied for a part-time position at a local YMCA and if I get hired I will be able to get a free membership so I am waiting to see how that pans out.

Honestly, this past week has not been too exciting. I finished a couple books and watched a couple movies in my downtime.

Welcome To My Life: February 17, 2013

Hello and Welcome To My Life:

Well, today, I actually went to church. It is something that I really think I should be doing more regularly, but somehow, I find some excuse not to go. Work, too tired, other things I need to get done. I am at the point where I think I want to attend a different church, but I am just not sure.

After church, I came home, ate lunch (alfredo--yum! I am starting a diet tomorrow!), and then I had to work at 2:00 p.m. so I read a book until then. I am currently reading The Healing by Wanda E. Brunstetter. When I first started reading it, I was thinking "this is how it is going to end!". Now, I am not so sure.

After work, I went home and changed out of my uniform and then I picked up some friends. We went to IHOP because some of us were craving it (mostly just me). IHOP was something my best friend and I would always go to late at night when we were craving it--but she moved to Kansas City a month ago.

Then we went to my friend, Olivia's house. Well, we made a pit stop at the grocery store to stock up on caffeine and candy.  We drank Trader Joe's Ruby Red Chai tea (delicous!) and watched the movie Garden State. I actually stayed awake through the whole movie! It was a struggle though.. I went home around 1:00 a.m..

Forgot to mention: I spilled hot tea on my pants and scorched my leg. Nothing good ever happens at Olivia's house. First, a sprained ankle, now this?

Welcome To My Life: February 16, 2013

Hello and Welcome To My Life:

Obviously my plan is to blog everyday about my life, but if a day is completely boring and nothing happened, I will not blog--as in yesterday.

Today, was slightly more exciting. I had to work in the morning, but after work I did laundry and then baked and decorated cookies--my valentine cookies! I did that all up until we had to leave and go to a wedding reception.

Earlier last year, my aunt (who's first husband passed away), got remarried, and with that new marriage I go two step-cousins. Well, one of those cousins got married on a cruise on February 3, 2013, and they had a wedding reception today to celebrate with everyone. It was a nice wedding. It is beautiful to see people who have been dating since the 8th grade get married! Their relationship has been full of tragedy, but they made it through. Okay, personally, the best part of the night for me was when the groom's grandfather sang two songs--he sounded like Frank Sinatra! I did not even realize it was a live singer at first!

Unfortunately, I did not take any pictures of anything today--no cookie pictures, sorry!

Welcome To My Life: February 14, 2013

Welcome To My Life:

Typically I kind of dislike Valentine's Day, probably because I have never had a significant other on that day. I really do not enjoy working on Valentine's day either. So, this Valentine's Day was different! I planned a Singles Awareness Day girls night out! Okay, it was pretty boring, we just went to a movie.

Most of my day was spent relaxing. I had my weekly Starbucks Study Sessions, and read The Journey for a little bit while I was there. I came home to eat lunch and then for the rest of the afternoon was reading that book. I did make some sugar cookie dough for after the movie--however, we never baked sugar cookies.

We went to a 7:05 showing of Safe Haven. It was a good movie, but I have learned that I probably should not read the book before seeing a movie. After the movie, we went to the store we all work at to wait for a friend who had to work until 10:00. We were going to all go to her house after work and bake the cookies, but I had to go home and get the cookie dough. Since I had to work in the morning, and my friend had a ride home I just decided to stay in for the night. I like my sleep too much, especially if I have to work an 8-hour shift. I know, I am a party pooper--oh well.

Welcome To My Life: February 13, 2013

Hello and Welcome To My Life:

I started my day off quite early today. I am no longer used to being up at 6:00 a.m. so this morning was a bit of a struggle. I would not normally wake up that early for a 9:00 a.m. appointment, but with my brothers in school they need the showers at certain times so I am given no other choice but to wake up before both of them.

Today was my 15-minute interview for the Ambassador Award at my school. I think it went okay, but I will find out tomorrow whether or not I have made it to the second round.

For most of the day, I read a book. Later in the afternoon I went downtown to a coffee shop with my friend, Kendra. After we had some Chai teas, we walked around downtown and went into a few shops. I just love the feeling of being downtown. Our downtown is not too exciting, but I like it none the less.

We have decided that we want to join a gym and be gym buddies--now the task is to find a gym!

For the rest evening I read a book (and finished it) and now I will watch a movie until I fall asleep.

Welcome To My Life: February 12, 2013

Hello and Welcome to My Life:

So my plan for today was to do my job search and work on my school project. I did not really accomplish either according to my plan, anyways.

I should probably mention that the Amish fascinate me. I do not know what it is about them, but I enjoy reading and learning about the Plain life. So when my parents announced that they were going to an Amish country store (they sell bulk foods) I just had to go! I had never met an Amish person or spoken to one before.

This Amish store is about an hour away from where I live, but I enjoyed the drive with my parents (I read a book). I find driving through the country to be fun.. and it is beautiful--especially with the snow! I know I could never live out in the county, but there is definitely a certain appeal to it.

When we arrived at the store, there was a horse and carriage at the hitching post--I could not resist a picture! I believe this is considered a family carriage (they are completely enclosed). This site kind of made my day.

Now I can say that I have spoken to Amish people! The store was cute! There was an amazing quilt there too. I cannot wait to go back!

Down the road from the store there is a patch of road with stone sticking out, it is a place my mother likes to stop and take pictures. We stopped and I posed for a few; this is the only one that came out okay:

After we got home, I went to the grocery store to pick up a few things, came home, ate dinner, started my job search, made steel cut oatmeal, and now I am going to read a book until I go to sleep.

Welcome To My Life: February 9-11, 2013

Hello and Welcome To My Life:

I missed a couple days of posting about my life and I apologize for that. The last few days I have just been too exhausted to post before I go to sleep.

Saturday, February 9, 2013:

I slept until around 10:00 a.m. because I did not go to bed until around 2:00 a.m.. I woke up to this cute thing:

I had to try really hard not to step on him. Silly dog.

Most of the day was spent just being lazy. However, I cooked myself a delicious lunch of General Tso's Chicken with Jasmine Rice.

The rest of the afternoon was spent on Pinterest, Twitter, YouTube, and reading a book.

Because my aunt does not have a coffee maker, I stopped off at Starbucks to get a latte before heading into work at 6:00. I worked until 10:00. When I got back to my aunt's house, my other aunt and her husband had just arrived to pick up Deputy. I was sad to see him go. Then I just went to bed.

Sunday, February 10, 2013:

You know you were in a deep sleep when you wake up and think "WHERE THE HECK AM I?!". Yep, that was the start of my morning when my alarm went off. Being that I had to work at 11:00 a.m., I needed to wake up early to pack and clean up the place before I left since my aunt and uncle were coming home that day.

I only had to work until 2:00 p.m.; I picked up this shift. After work, I bought a few things and went home. I made myself a hot ham sandwich, unpacked, and then went to my friend's house to hang out with some people. We played Extreme Forks (Extreme Spoons, but with forks) and I ended up hurting my ankle and splitting my pants open. I blame my friend's 13 year-old brother. We were also watching the Grammy's as well.

That day it had rained and then started to freeze so on the way to our cars we kind of slid. One of my friends slid all of the way down from the apron of the driveway to the road--on her feet though. Once my friend dropped me off at home, I threw my work clothes in the washer (then dryer) and then read a book while I waited for my laundry. After it was done, I went to sleep.

Monday, February 11, 2013:

Today was not too exciting. I worked 10:00 a.m. to around 4:20 p.m.. After work, I ate dinner and started another round of laundry since I did not have time to do my weekly laundry yesterday. It was a girl's (who I use to babysit) birthday so around 6:30 I went to her house to wish her a happy birthday and give her a gift. Since the only Dunkin Donuts in my town is over by her house, I stopped there on my way back for the first time. I ordered a Vanilla Chai, not so impressed. The donut was quite good, but the filling got all over my jeans and reusable bag--whoops! After Dunkin, I went to the library to drop off and pick up some new items. I also stopped of at Redbox to get a free movie for my brother. Once I got home, I watched Courageous with my family.

Welcome To My Life: February 8, 2013

Hello and Welcome To My Life:

I did not write a post yesterday because nothing really happened. I did not feel well and had to work an 8-hour shift so when I came home I basically ate and went to bed--not worth a whole post.

Today was supposed to be a full day off from work. However, around 8:00 a.m. someone from my work posted on Facebook about having a lot of call-ins so I spent about an hour deciding whether or not to go in to work. Eventually, I decided I would work a 12-5 shift because that way I would be able to accomplish what I need to get done and still have the night off. It was not one of the full shifts, but they needed any help they could get--it was my day off anyways!

Earlier this week my aunt had asked me to pet sit this weekend. She has two cats and she is dog sitting for my other aunt's husband's dog. So after work I came home, ate dinner, packed, stopped off at the grocery store to pick up some food, and then went out to my aunt's house.

My aunt lives about 15 minutes out of "town", out in the country a bit. During the summer if there's a strong wind you smell the local farms (ewww). I enjoy staying at her house though; it is so relaxing out there!

The dog, Deputy is the cutest, sweetest, dog ever.. but he is ever so needy!

Later, some of my friends came over and we watched a couple movies, ate pizza, and drank some wine. I fell asleep during the last movie--shocker!

Welcome To My Life: February 6, 2013

Hello and Welcome To My Life:

Well, being that I did not get home until 2:00 a.m. last night (this morning), I ended up sleeping in until 10:00 a.m.. Such a weird feeling to have! I am used to being up by at least 7:30/8:00 a.m.!

Today was my day off so I was in no hurry to get going for the day since Wednesday is just my Starbucks study session day. Once I had gotten ready and eaten lunch it was about 3:30ish when I actually left the house and went to Starbucks. I started on my school project that is due in two weeks, it should not be too difficult to finish and I will probably finish it during my next study/Starbucks session. After I worked on that for awhile, I spent some time adding to my website. I have updated the front page welcome and added content to my "About Me" section. I do not think I will be adding any more content until I have finished the actual site. I am probably going to use the site as part of a school project, so I am excited about that!

I really enjoy spending time at my Starbucks and doing my school/working on my website. Two of the baristas' kind of know me from the grocery store that I work with so they tend to talk to me a bit. I enjoy being at a place that the people working actually try to make conversation and get to know you a bit. One of the baristas asked what I was working on so I told him a bit about my website and he joked and asked if it was called "Dear Abby"--ha ha.

Before heading home, I stopped at my work to get my work schedule for next week. I talked to a few friends and then just went home and ate dinner. Up until now I was just reading a book--I have not finished The Secret yet. I think I will try to finish watching I Love You, Man and then head off to bed. Tomorrow is my mom's birthday and I have to work all day.. boo that.

Welcome To My Life: February 5, 2013

Hello and Welcome To My Life:

Today was a fairly busy day. A little fact about me, I refuse to make additional alarms on my phone so even if I do not need to be awake until 8:00 a.m. I will still set my alarm for 7:30 a.m. because I am too lazy to make a new one. So, anyways I woke up at 7:30 a.m. and got ready for work. I had a short shift at work (10-2p) and after work, I went grocery shopping (I do some grocery shopping for my family and sometimes pick up a few items for myself). I needed a couple items to bake some cupcakes for tonight because it was my friend, Olivia's birthday.

Once I got home, I did my weekly job search (I typically do it on Monday's, that is when my reminder/checklist is set for), but I did not have time yesterday so I did it today. I found an IT administrative assistant position at a global company and applied for it. Other than that, I did not see much that I was interested in.

Around 5:00 p.m. my friend, Shannen came over so we could bake cupcakes for Olivia's birthday. I had never made Red Velvet anything before so it was definitely an experience; it was messy and looked slightly like a murder scene! I also forgot to take the butter for the cream cheese frosting out of the refrigerator, so while that was sitting by the fire, we picked up our friend, Kendra (her car was in the shop). We went back to my house and made the beautiful lime green frosting for the cupcakes.

After running an errand and meeting up with another friend and stopping for Starbucks, we returned to my house to frost and decorate the cupcakes (this way we could say EVERYONE helped with the cupcakes!).

We were about to head off to Olivia's house to hang out with her for her birthday when I knocked over my coffee. Lemme tell you, that royally bombed; I was depending on that caffeine to keep me up for awhile! Later, I just stole one of Olivia's birthday presents (okay, I asked), Dr. Pepper--to help keep me awake. So anyways, we just hung out for awhile at Olivia's--it was a great time.

I forgot to take a picture of my outfit, so no outfit of the day, today. Sorry!

Welcome To My Life: February 4, 2013

Hello and Welcome To My Life:

About two weeks ago I received an e-mail (plus a Facebook message) from the chair of my program at my college about being nominated for an award. There was a mandatory meeting last week for the nominees, but I was working so was unable to attend. So, today I was able to meet with somebody about the award to discuss what I had missed at the meeting. The award is basically the equivalent of "student of the year" and I am beyond honored that my instructors think so highly of me to be their nominee! I am one of twelve nominated out of 7,000-8,000 students; what an honor! I have to go through an interview and if I pass I will go to the next round. I am flabbergasted, but excited for this amazing opportunity!

After that 9:00 a.m. meeting, I ran a few errands and went home to eat lunch, pack my dinner, and then go to work.  I worked until 9:00 p.m. so I just went home, got my jammies on, and attempted to finish watching I Love You, Man. I had originally started watching it while on a trip with some friends to a semi-local hotel/waterpark, but I had fallen asleep about 20 minutes in. It was time for me to finish the movie, but about halfway though I fell asleep. It usually takes me 2-3 nights to watch a full movie.

Well, that was my overly exciting day.

Welcome To My Life: February 3, 2013

Hello and Welcome To My World:

Even though my favorite NFL football team, the Green Bay Packers, were not in the Super Bowl this year I was still excited for it. I had invited a couple friends over for a little Super Bowl get together with a ton of food! Thank goodness for Pinterest; I had a board with all of the Super Bowl goodies I had planned to make.

I spent most of my afternoon cooking and preparing the food (with a little help from a friend). It took me/us 4 hours to make all of the food, but it was totally worth it!

The Super Bowl Menu:
Mini Meatloaves
Spinach Lasagna Roll-Ups
Spicy Cauliflower
Cherry Tomato, Basil, and String Cheese Hors d'Ĺ“uvre--they were served with the rest of the food though--I put my friend Kendra in charge of this
Taco Dip--I put my friend Kendra in charge of this
Veggie Tray
Fruit Kabobs--I put my friend Kendra in charge of this
Rye Bread (shaped like a football!) and Spinach Dip

Being that my dad has diabetes and my family (except my mother) have high cholesterol I tried to go a healthier route with the food selections. Anything that needed sour cream as a base I just used non-fat Greek yogurt. The only dip that had sour cream was the spinach dip because I bought that; everything else I made myself. My friend Kendra helped me with a few of the items--she claimed this is the most cooking she had ever done, I suppose I will give her more lessons ;)

Of course, I had made a cake--that was not healthy! I left 1/4 of the cake un-frosted for my dad though.

The food was finished right after the kick-off so we just ate and enjoyed the game, it was all very delicious!

What a roller coaster game that was! From the start I was cheering for the Ravens because I had always kind of liked that team, so that was my reason for choosing them. Up until the partial blackout at the game it was all very exciting for the Ravens.. and then it went down hill and there were many nail biting moments! In the end, the Ravens came out on top so I was very happy. My purple socks (you will see in the OOTD below) were lucky after all!

After the game, my friends went home and I did the dishes and went to bed. It was a very exhausting day.. cooking is a lot of work--but I love it!

Welcome To My Life: February 2, 2013

Hello and Welcome To My Life:

Today was a pretty chill day. Shockingly I slept in until 9:30 (well, not surprising since I did not go to sleep until about 4:00 a.m.)--and to my friends who make fun of me for saying "maybe I will sleep in until 7:30", there! I can sleep later than that.

While my coffee maker was brewing some coffee I did my dishes and thought of a great idea! Why not create my own website? It is something that I have occasionally thought about and wanted the time to do it, well, now I have the time! So, most of my morning I spent creating a website using Weebly (a tool I had learned about and used in school). It is coming along wonderfully but I am still coming up with ideas for it and have changed it over 100 times it seems.

Since I was not able to have my study session on Wednesday because my online school portal was down, my goal for today was to have my Starbucks study session today. I like to get out of my house and go somewhere that I can easily focus on my school and not be distracted by my family and random tasks that I think of so Starbucks is where I go. One reason for Starbucks is because there is one about 5 minutes from my house; cannot get much closer than that! I had my free drink (Starbucks Rewards are awesome!) on my card so I ordered a Quad Venti Vanilla Spice Latte--might as well go all out if its going to be free (I needed the extra caffeine as well!). With my latte at hand, I powered my way though my classwork and then worked on my website.

I am hoping to put together a section on my website designated to talk about fashion in the workplace. My goal is to work in an office and there are certain guidelines that should be followed (not everyone does) so I would like to share some outfits that I had put together while interning. I have asked my photographer friend to possibly do a photo shoot of them as well--he seems willing!

After my Starbucks session, I went home and did my weekly laundry. Another task I do every Saturday is wash my makeup brushes.. while I was washing my kabuki brush, this happened:

I guess it is time to say goodbye to that brush. I have been wanting to buy a new one from Sigma anyways, but I never could bring myself to buy it because I already have one.. well, now I have an excuse! This brush was a nice brush though, it lasted probably 5 years and was super soft. I suppose I will go back to using a regular foundation brush until I have the money to purchase the one from Sigma.

In preparation of tomorrow's Super Bowl get-together, I baked a small chocolate cake. I had left over butter cream frosting (which I used food coloring to make it a beautiful purple color--wonder who I am cheering for?) from the other day and had placed it in the refrigerator, let's just say, it was rock solid. I hope that it will soften again so I can use it on my cake! Is butter cream frosting not supposed to be refrigerated?

To end my night, I am going to answer the next "365 question" on my website and hopefully finish watching The Santa Clause--it takes me several nights to finish a movie; I always fall asleep!

Welcome To My Life: February 1, 2013

Hello and Welcome To My Life:

I was thinking today would be a rather boring day. Be lazy and go to work for 8 hours.. that is not at all how things went down.

My first adventure of the day started when my dad requested that I go to a grocery store with him to help him pick out the food I needed for the little Super Bowl party that I'm having with my friends. I rolled out of bed, showered, got ready, and went to the grocery store with my dad. All was going well until we packed all of the food (including fresh produce, by the way) in the car and tried to start the car. The poor car did not start.. did I mention that it was -5 degrees this morning? So there we were: stuck in a grocery store parking lot, freezing our bums off until my mom was able to pick us up. I was so worried about my poor fresh produce for my party! I think all is well and none of it froze, but it was not a pleasant experience to say the least.. I was just thankful I had worn my knitted ear warmer headband and cozy glittens (have I mentioned that I love winter accessories?!).

After that I just went home and blogged about my previous day (while cuddled in a blanket, of course!) and then made myself some lunch: Homemade mac & cheese in a bowl--DELICIOUS!!

But as most days go, I packed a lunch and went to work for 8 hours--man was it hectic at that grocery store today! I think people are getting ready for an unimportant Super Bowl (for us Packer fans that is). Oh well, my shift went quickly so that was nice. After work I had to finish up my grocery shopping for the party (don't worry, I will post pictures of all of the delicious food--if it comes out okay).

To end my night I went to and hung out with some friends at one of my friend's new apartment. We just ate lots of food (Hawaiian pizza, Chinese food, fruit pizzas, salsa, and Birthday Cake Oreos) and watched Friends--what a great show to watch with friends. It is now almost 3:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 2nd (I am backdated this blog, of course!) and I will be heading off to bed now. Have a great night (or day, depending on when you read this)!

Welcome To My Life: January 31, 2013

Hello and Welcome To My Life:

I have a million ideas going through my head right now.. so anyways, one of those ideas is to blog about my everyday life. Someday I would like to be able to go back and read about the journey I took to get to where I dream to go. Maybe those goals and dreams will change along the way but it will be fun to be able to see the road that was taken to get there. So I will hopefully blog every night, but for starters I will blog about yesterday..

January 31, 2013:

Let's be honest though, my life is not that exciting so read on if you want to be bored out of your mind ;)

My only goal for yesterday was to take a trip to Ulta because it was my goal for the previous day but snowstorm Denise kind of ruined that with dumping 9" of snow on us. I could have driven to Ulta the day before, but let's be honest, I might not be a crazy driver but I do not wish to be involved in somebody else's accident. When it snows like it did on Wednesday, I prefer to stay inside, where it is safe and warm; why risk my life?

So, let's get to yesterday, Thursday--I get off track easily.

My day typically starts with a cup of coffee, checking social medias, e-mail, etc.. Well, you already heard from me yesterday about my great discovery of the 365 questions blog series so I won't bore you again with that. Before I set out to go to Ulta this was my beautiful view:

I am going to be honest with everyone here: I LOVE winter, snow, and the cold. I love wearing my UGGs and my cute and warm glittens. I can't really wear big comfy sweaters and boots when it is 60 degrees out, now can I? Winter is my favorite season. Fall is second; we can just skip the other two :)

I had a 20% off from Ulta that expires on Saturday, so my trip was much required. A great opportunity to stock up on my Philosophy staples and pick up a couple new products to try out:

Staples:
  • Philosophy Purity Made Simple One-Step Facial Cleanser
  • Philosophy Clear Days Ahead Moisturizer
New products:
  • OPI Nail Envy Sensitive and Peeling Nail Strengthener
  • Garnier Moisture Rescue Refresh Gel Cream
Hopefully these products work well, I have been experiencing some dry patches on my skin so I am hoping that the gel cream will work because I really did not want to spend the extra money on Philosophy Hope in a Jar. I have yet to find a cure for my nails peeling so we will give this nail strengthener a try; I have already tried the brittle nails one but that one did not seem to help. Any suggestions?

The rest of my day was quite boring. I put together a batch of vegetables and roasted them in the oven and then read a book (The Secret by Beverly Lewis--Amish ways of life fascinate me) and drank some delicious Twinnings Christmas tea until I went into work at 4:30. That was my extremely exciting day.. other than coming home from work and cuddling in my warm bed and watching The Santa Clause--and no, Christmas is NEVER over for me :)

Hopefully I will post later today.. about today's exciting adventures.
